Jayapura, Jubi- Five teachers’ houses of Inpres Elementary School in Skow Mabo remain in poor condition but the Department of Education and Teaching of Jayapura city has built two new houses for teachers, the Papua Democracy Alliance ( ALDP) said during a visit to the school on Sunday ( 2/11).
“Currently, only Mr. Jouw, school foreman occupies the house,” secretary of Kampung Skouw Mabo village, Isaac Mallo told Jubi last week. He added that all teachers live in Jayapura city.
One of the residents of Kampung Skouw Mabo, Haris Malo said the teachers’ houses had been in a state of disrepair because the houses were rarely occupied and not taken care of.
“Perhaps the teachers do not want to occupy the houses as there is no electricity at Kampung Skouw Mabo,” he said.
According to ALDP’s report in 2012, teachers’ housings were built along with schools in 1970. Four more houses were build in 2000 and were occupied by teachers for only about a year . (Dominggus Mampioper/Tina)
