Jayapura, 30/4 (Jubi) – To anticipate the establishment of new autonomous regions (DOB),  Papua province is seeking to increase the number of civil servants.

Papua Governor Lukas Enembe said, ideally each region should have at least 4000 civil servants (PNS) so that public services could run effectively.
“Yes, there are many regencies and cities in Papua. Each should have 4,000 civil servants. The average number of civil servants in the regencies/ city is around 1400 and not enough to meet the needs of civil servants,”Enembe told reporters in Jayapura, Papua on Wednesday (30/4).

In response, the Provincial Government would request the Central Government through the Ministry of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform (Kemenpan-RB) to launch a special program for civil servant recruitment for around 3000-4000 people.

To realize this, the Government of Papua province has delivered the request letter to Kemenpan-RB and still waits for response back.
“During  Mr Silalahi’s era, there was a policy of special program to recruit about 2000 civil servants. The same program, we requested to Kemenpan-RB. Yes, we may ask to schedule this recruitment at the same time, “he said.

The special program is intended to anticipate New Autonomous Regions (DOB) that are expected to be created in in 2014.

The regular admission round in June 2014 will be conducted nationally and the quota for Papua will be decided by the central government. (Jubi / Alex/ Tina)
