Abepura, Jubi – The head of State Junior High School (SMP) 4 Jayapura, Papua, Nelce Duwith, said students will not be able to take online exams in 2016 because the school is not ready.

“We are taking the exams manually only,” Duwith told Jubi in his office on Wednesday (5/11).

Jayapura municipality government plans to use the online system in the 2015/2016 academic year.

She explained that her school was not ready due to geographical constraints.  The school is located at the foot of a mountain, making internet access difficult

Another obstacle was the equipment and capacity. “Computers and WIFI are not available in the school. Students also need to prepare themselves before the online exams as well. It may be one to two years for the preparation both the facilities, and students’ readiness,” she explained

The online examination system will not be applied to the elementary level because mostly elementary schools were not ready. One of them was Inpress Elementary School Waena Permai.
“Our school is not ready for online test. Students need adequate support facilities,” Modouw said to the Jubi in her office.

Titin M. Ohee, teacher of Inpress Elementary school in Yoka said the same thing. Schools do not have adequate technological facilities to realize the online exam.
“Socialize the online system first,” Ohee added. (Benny Mawel/Tina)
