Jayapura, Jubi – Papua Province should have an airport to anticipate the Asean Economic Community (AEC), said the head of Papua’s Transportation Department Yusuf Yambe Yabdi.

“One of the promising international markets is the Pacific. For that there must be an international airport in Papua,” said Yusuf in Jayapura on Thursday (05/11/2015).

It can be viewed on the highly economic transaction in the Pacific region, especially Papua New Guinea and Jayapura. To develop and manage Papua should be seen as an area that has a specificity in the context of special autonomy. Thus, specific industries should be built in Papua to answer the needs of the Pacific markets increasing.

With these considerations, the Papua provincial government conduct an inventory of commodity that can be marketed to Papua New Guinea.

“Papua can be developed if there is industrial revolution. We should not build the industry to sell to Java, since there are already many industries, but we build the industry for the Pacific market,” he added.

Earlier, head of the Border and International Cooperation, Suzana Wanggai said that the Government of the Republic of Indonesia and Papua New Guinea have agreed to continue to improve trade, investment and tourism cooperation between the two countries that has lasted a long time.
